Astor Lounge
Southwest corner of Bowery and Bleeker Street

I must admit that I was surprised that I actually liked Astor Lounge. Down a narrow staircase from the apparently chic restaurant sits a dim oasis of overpriced drinks and overly attractive waitresses. I had been warned that I would hate AL because it attracts the Beautiful People. While it's patrons do need a severe (and violent) attitude adjustment, AL has something that places like the Bowery Bar & Grill lack: space. It's amazing how much more bearable people are when you're not crushed against them. In addition to being spacious, Astor puts the "lounge" back in Lounge. They have an abundance of leather chairs that just scream "sit and be lazy!" Now how can anyone argue with that? I suggest giving it a try sometime, especially if your a dive dweller like me and want to throw someone off.

Oh yeah, Dancing Boy has given Astor Lounge's music selection his seal of approval.
