Q: What makes Corners better than the many other pool halls in NYC?

A: Waitress service to the tables.

After playing on as many beat-up tables with warped pool cues as I have, Corners is a dream come true. But optimal playing conditions are only half the allure of Corners. Most of the pool players I know prefer to drink a few beers while playing. I can't even begin to count the times we have gone to a pool hall, found out it didn't have a bar and had to sneak beer in with us. On the few occasions when we didn't get thrown out because of our subversive ploys, we either weren't able to get enough to be satisfying, or if we did, were forced to consume lukewarm Bud by the end of the night. Corners offers a fine selection of moderately priced bottled beer (Bud and Rolling Rock $3, Anchor Steam and others $3.50 and up). The table service can be slow, but easily bypassed. Either move your lazy ass to the cafe or, to use Tommy SoHo's method, order two rounds at once. A great place to play pool. Check it out.
