Küsh
183 Orchard Street,
between Houston and Stanton Streets

When Daniel and I wandered into Küsh, I half expected to see a fez topped Boris Karloff eerily appear from around the corner (a la The Mummy, 1932), or even Brendan Fraser to burst out of the men's room with guns a-blazing (a la The Mummy, 1999).

Decked out like a dimly lit Moroccan watering hole, Küsh brings to mind scheming French resistance fighters, evil Egyptian curses and Harrison Ford drinking alone with a monkey perched on his shoulder.  All movie references aside, the decor is effective.

The spacious and moderately priced bar offers the usual assortment of bottled beer and have excellent cocktails, as well as middle eastern style bar snacks.  Even if you are not in the neighborhood, Küsh alone is well worth a trip to Orchard Street.
