Max
Fish
178 Ludlow Street,
between Houston and Stanton Streets
by Patrick (7/02/99)
With its brightly colored interior and constantly changing displays
of art, Max Fish remains one of the best known bars on the LES. Its
patrons seem to be a cross-section of the LES itself. Every Friday and
Saturday night, this large establishment gets packed to the gills (I
couldn't resist) with dirty punks, wanna-be-models, cranky artists,
yuppies and assorted other fringe elements. Besides the boring experience
of just getting drunk, it offers several other diversions with a pool
table in the back, a few video games (not vintage '80's), a couple pinball
machines and an assortment of gorgeous bartenders to ogle (my personal
favorite). Max Fish has it all. If you're going to check it out, get there
early. The seating fills up quick. Personally, I only go there for the
pinball and bartenders. |
