The
Motor City Bar
127 Ludlow

All the way
down Ludlow Street sits my friend Andy's favorite bar, Motor City.
Of all the theme bars in New York, a faux Detroit motif is definitely one
of the oddest choices. The bar is littered with highway signs, street
signs, murals of hot rods, license plates and stripped car parts; it's
even got church keys hanging from the ceiling like riveting guns on an
assembly line. Despite the fact that it is a theme bar, Motor City
is a dive. Unlike it's trendy
neighboring bars (Luna Lounge, Max
Fish, etc.), this homage to Henry
Ford's once mighty empire, almost exclusively caters to
the downtrodden. It's a relaxed and comfortable bar with lots of
seating and space. Instead of a jukebox, Motor City offers DJs spinning
garage and other palatable forms of loud rock. I suggest checking it out. |
