The Motor City Bar
127 Ludlow Street,
between Rivington and Delancey Streets

All the way down Ludlow Street sits my friend Andy's favorite bar, Motor City.  Of all the theme bars in New York, a faux Detroit motif is definitely one of the oddest choices.  The bar is littered with highway signs, street signs, murals of hot rods, license plates and stripped car parts; it's even got church keys hanging from the ceiling like riveting guns on an assembly line.  Despite the fact that it is a theme bar, Motor City is a dive.  Unlike it's trendy neighboring bars (Luna Lounge, Max Fish, etc.), this homage to Henry Ford's once mighty empire, almost exclusively caters to the downtrodden.  It's a relaxed and comfortable bar with lots of seating and space. Instead of a jukebox, Motor City offers DJs spinning garage and other palatable forms of loud rock. I suggest checking it out.
